Founder's Message
From Eliana Miracle Melekwe.
Founder & CEO of MedRide by Miracle
Growing up, I watched my mother, Queen Idris, a single
mom and a nurse give everything she had to care for
others. After working 16-hour shifts, there were nights
she’d call me, too exhausted to drive herself home.
Sometimes I’d stay up waiting, knowing I’d have to pick
her up or drop her off again before sunrise. Other
times, I’d drive her and other nurses to their
workplaces just so they could get there safely and rest
on the way.
Those long nights stayed with me. I saw not just the
physical exhaustion, but the deep emotional weight
carried by so many healthcare workers like my mom,
people who care for others endlessly, yet often have no
one to care for them in return.
That’s where the idea for MedRide by Miracle was
born.
I wanted to build something that would make life easier
for nurses, caregivers, and patients. something that
would lighten the load even just a little. MedRide isn’t
just a transportation service. It’s a support system on
wheels. Our mission is simple: to ensure that healthcare
professionals and patients can get to where they need to
be safely, comfortably, and with dignity.
Today, MedRide by Miracle operates in Sudbury, Ontario,
with a growing fleet of wheelchair-accessible medical
vans that transport both patients and nurses to and from
hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities. By
the end of this month, we’ll officially launch with two
accessible vans, one designed to seat six passengers and
six wheelchairs, and another with even greater
capacity.
This company is more than a business to me, it’s a
reflection of my mother’s strength, sacrifice, and
heart, and a promise to continue her legacy of care in a
new way.
